Feathers So Vicious by Liv Zander — A Raven Fall, Y’all

It’s a RAVEN FALL, Y’ALL. 🐦‍⬛

Edgar Allan Poe gave us The Raven and a bird that wouldn’t shut up. Liv Zander gave us a whole flock of traumatized little shits falling in love and getting into havoc.

Nevermore? More, please.

Birds of a feather stick together, and BABES, we have NOT seen birds this vicious. These people are traumatized, unwell, and apparently determined to make that everybody else’s problem. And I’m just over here cheering them on.

꧁The World Building꧂

It’s giving SPOOKY.

It’s giving gothic. Dangerous. A little bit fucked up.

What I loved about this book was that it didn’t pretend anyone was okay.

It didn’t pretend they particularly WANTED to be okay, either.

Sometimes these characters are trying to survive what happened to them. Sometimes they’re doing some absolutely batshit (hot) shit to feel good in the moment.

And honestly? Fucking valid.

Gothic, dangerous kids abused in the past and trying to survive the future.

And survive we fucking will.

꧁The Characters꧂

Now, the MEN.

We have Malyr, bringing bully love interest energy with enough trauma to fill a gothic cathedral.

And then there’s Sebian, serving obsessed himbo on the other end of the spectrum.

And we wanna stay sandwiched between these two, honestly.

Malyr really said:

“You know full well that no moment passes where you’re not on my mind.”

SIR. Is that a confession or a threat? Because I feel like the answer is both.

And THEN we get the threat to cut off a man’s balls and feed them to his ravens.

Romance is alive and well, folks. Somewhere. Probably in a locked tower.

꧁The Romance꧂

Listen, I don’t need these people to be emotionally well-adjusted.

I need chemistry. Obsession. Dangerous devotion. Men who have absolutely no business being anyone’s boyfriend and yet here I am, pulling up a chair.

Because beneath all the viciousness, this book understands that damaged people don’t magically stop being damaged just because they fall in love.

The past follows them. It shapes them. It makes the things they want complicated as hell.

And sometimes the things they want are each other.

Is it healthy? BABE.

Is it hot? We are having a different conversation.

꧁The Overall꧂

Feathers So Vicious brought the gothic atmosphere I wanted: damaged characters, dangerous relationships, and enough questionable behavior to keep my fictional-men judgment under serious investigation.

I loved that the darkness wasn’t just decorative. These characters have been through shit, and the story lets them be messy, vicious, and decidedly NOT okay.

If you want gothic fantasy romance with morally questionable men and characters who need a hug, a therapist, and possibly a restraining order, welcome to the aviary.

The feathers are black, the vibes are rancid, and I am seated. 🖤
