“Memnon bellows down our bond.
Speak of the fucking devil.
Panic continues to grip me, and I realize it’s his emotions I’m feeling, not my own.
Answer me if you can! His tone is frantic. Tell me you’re okay.
It clicks then.
You found the fire.
I sense the instant realization strikes him.
You set this?
I feel relief spreading down our bond, and it’s like a balm to his previous fear.
He begins to laugh. The hairs along my arms rise at the sound. Only he would find arson funny.
Clever, vicious woman, he continues. I should know by now that you would have vengeance to match.”
꧁The Characters꧂
I love Memmon. I think because I immediately read his actions from the beginning. He was scared of “her getting hurt” and being the only one to remember their history. Then the rest of these secondary characters literally weren’t there slash did not care.
I love him being a villain and said KEEP IT COMING!
Then his selfishness for her was used as a plot device to help our main character almost every single time.
Gurl – if he is the one helping you accomplish the goals you want and you enjoy spending time with him. Then what the fuck are we actually talking about here?
I had that thought process before the whole ancient history soulmates devastating impact.
MY AMAGE!
Hence — I love Selene. She started strong for me. But starting in this book, it was almost like she held herself back and used things like “what will my parents say” as as legit thought process. Like THERE ARE BIGGER THINGS AT HAND!
꧁Worldbuilding꧂
The writing style of this entire series was sooo fun and creative. I enjoyed the journey of piecing together the history of the two characters, trying to figure out the master plot, and rooting for a happy ending
꧁The Romance꧂
Overall, I’d say this was a dark romance that an ancient warlord sorcerer king dude was cursed and woke up in the modern world. And he chose violence.
But he loves his girl.
And I am a SUCKER for that plot!
