Witches are dying at an academy. There are secrets in the shadows. And somewhere in all that gothic chaos, a mysterious voice is OBSESSED with our love interest.
OB.
SESS.
ED.
GASP. You cannot put a creepy academy, mysterious deaths, witchy secrets, and a voice that has me desperate to know who the hell is speaking into the mix and expect me to casually put this book down. Absolutely not.
꧁The Hook꧂
This is exactly the kind of setup that gets its claws into me: an atmospheric setting, a mystery that needs solving, danger lurking around the corner, and a central question that keeps getting louder the further you read. Who is behind the deaths? What is really happening? And why is this mysterious man so intensely fixated on her?
That voice, GURL. The obsession is doing things to my brain. I need answers, I need context, and apparently I need to meet Memnon immediately.
꧁The World Building꧂
The gothic academy atmosphere gives the story such a delicious sense of unease. Witches are dying, something is very wrong, and the setting makes every secret feel like it could be hiding behind the next door. The mystery gives the book momentum, while the magic and unanswered questions keep me trying to piece together the bigger picture.
꧁The Romance꧂
We begin with a mysterious voice and an obsession that practically radiates off the page. I am not asking for a sensible explanation. I am asking for more information about this man and why he is like this. Immediately, please.
The best part is that the book gives me both things I want: a mystery to unravel and a love interest I am increasingly desperate to meet. The story gets me invested before I even have the full picture, which is exactly how you make me turn page after page.
꧁The Cece Verdict꧂
FIVE STARS. INCREDIBLE.
Give me a gothic academy, witches dying under suspicious circumstances, dark secrets, and a mysterious voice that is already obsessed with the woman at the center of it all. I am SAT.
Laura Thalassa hooked me with the mystery, wrapped me in the atmosphere, and made me need to meet Memnon. This is the beginning of a very dangerous reading obsession—and I regret nothing.
