Of Flesh and Blood by Adrienne Wilder
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Last year i went on this whole DRAGON DRAGONS DRAGONSSSS book marathon (no regrets, fight me). Loved the first book and was really excited for the second!

“Haley flashed him one last smile, then scanned the room and said, “Rule number one: Never, ever run…”
*** *** ***
Farley ran.”
The potential was legit oozing off the page from the first scene. It still had its dramatic transitions and awesome beginners that captivated me in the first one
Haley trying to do right by her friends and protect the hoomans. Orin with a dark secret, accused of murder that might bring everything to light. Farley making trouble per usual. Medan the dragon queen of Atlanta trying to obtain ultimate power.

However, it quickly became apparent it just wasn’t as great as the firstI kept some hope but adding so many POVs but *without ANY strong differences* between them…. girl what?
Everyone just sounded the same and got all mushed together

While the first book worked on building everything up — characters, worlds, relationships, goals!
This second book worked on DESTROYING all of it via… *the feels*
“Another wave of it hit and he bowed so hard that something had to break.
And something did. His hearts.”
no seriously it was one emotionally wrenching scene after another
Honestly, this was my main complaint: The tone of the second book was just in such a CONTRAST with the first, that I honestly felt like I was reading a completely different story. While this one is good in its own right *for people that want the more emotional, struggling story*. It failed as a sequel that didn’t capture the dark, hard, violent, troublemaking, adventure, badass vibes of the first
“And yet, it was nothing compared to the sorrow and sense of loss Haley felt.
Her Deshi. Her Beautiful Deshi.
The if onlys in her mind were as abundant as the tears.”
… see what I mean?? people were eating each other in the first book AND NOT ONE TEAR! but now…
Overall I was kinda disappointed in this book. It’s focus on the whole court system, politics, discrimination took away from the first book’s intro to the awesomeness of this world with the dragon setups… Also… we didn’t really learn anything new… Like the first book built up SO many questions and the second book didn’t even pretend to address them

Sequel-funk, no me gusta.
